NOTES
- At the Starting Line: Friday evening is the final tune-up for Sycamore track & field before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, as the Trees will travel to Charleston, Ill., to compete at the EIU Friday Night Special. Last season, both the men and women walked out of Lantz Fieldhouse with team victories.
- Last Time Out: The Sycamores are coming off of a strong showing at the Hoosier Hills meet at IU last Friday. Indiana State picked up six individual victories, including Daryl Black in the men's 60-meter hurdles, Will Smith in the unseeded men's 800-meter run, the men's DMR squad, Jamal Safo in the men's long jump, Callan Whitehouse in the men's pole vault and Iyanla Hunter in the unseeded women's 400-meter dash. Women's hurdler Allana Ince also ran the fourth-fastest hurdle time of 8.49 en route to a silver finish.
- Hurdling Squad: The Sycamore men's hurdlers own the 20th-best squad in the nation according to the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association event squad rankings. Event squad rankings places a rank order to a program's "squad" of athletes in a particular event, using the cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team's top-four ranked athletes on the national descending-order list. The Sycamores own an average time of 8.14, which is the best in the MVC.
- 'High Jump U': The Indiana State men's high jumping core is also ranked 20th in the latest USTFCCCA event squad ranking. The high jumpers have an average height of 2.04m (6-08.25).
- Climbing the Record Book: Ince had a stellar Friday at the Hoosier Hills meet a week ago, recording back-to-back personal-bests in the 60-meter hurdles. The senior qualified for finals in the event behind a time of 8.59 and she then broke that career-best time, ending with the Valley-leading and fourth-fastest time in school history of 8.49 to take second in the event.
